Teaching everything you need won't take you anywhere. As a human being, our potential resides in discovering stuff by ourselves.
Take that away from people, and you are manipulating them. In North Korea, they don't even let you have internet, or knowledge from outside their nation. In my point of view, that's taking humanity out of people. The main difference I see between sects and religions is that religions, at least, give you that freedom. Sects, on the other hand, forbid you contact with the outside of it. And even then, most religions only act like that to look nice.
