But yeah, I wish my dad had just gotten plain fertilizer. I sympathize with Holy and his city. I wouldn't want incompetent gardeners screwing up my water resources or native species or neighborhood outdoor pets or whatever the hell reason that city has. The city has just as much right to protect its residents from health hazards as Scotts has to be mad at them for destroying one of their markets. But health > profits, so it's on the company to come up with a product that's both safe and effective, should such a thing exist. There's also a good argument that home fertilizing is a wholly unnecessary industry and should die anyway. How can they compete with free compost made from your own waste or a little good-old fashioned manual labor, care, and attention to your plants? Ah, I remember now, we're lazy bastards.
