There are many things that are not known about north korea, media likes to jump on these unknowns and make speculations about them.
A n example is the report of a Chinese activist who "mysteriously gone missing" after being sentenced to 6 month in prison. The western media not only speculate about how the activist is being tortured or murdered in prison, but mention this news on every subsequent news that's related to China, making readers think that all Chinese activists gets "tortured and murdered" in prison. Until a few month ago, that activist came in contact with bbc and said that he simply changed his address after the 6 month in prison, and he wasn't tortured.
