I mean, if we're already accepting the fact that we can go back, then why not just set it to a date before Masteria disappeared? But if one were to use the same time machine to go to a different point in history JUST to access Masteria at another point in time, there would need to be a set of maps TO GET TO Masteria from the Ludus Lake area.
Using the Ludi time machine is still a possibility, but I agree that it's more likely that Foxwit will do it himself, perhaps making a quick reference to the Time Control Room in Ludi as part of his explanation.
Unless we're making the assumption that the time machine can travel through the 3rd dimension as well as the 4th. I was under the impression that the reason why it drops you in ancient Victoria was that Victoria used to exist in what is now Ludus Lake, but for some reason (probably an attack from the Dark Magician) got knocked out.
Still though, we've got this time traveler here in the town, and he probably owns a time machine of his own. I think it makes more sense to maintain the idea that the time machine wouldn't travel through the 3rd dimension... I always hate when in fiction, characters live in America, travel through time, and end up in medieval Europe. Freaking annoying.
