shagreen heart Wrote:steal used to give duplicate items, but that was patched a little after GMS got ludi. i see what you are getting at though, and the advantage of stealing an item increases the droprate of the rest of the items the monster can drop theoretically (by the total number of items -1). i say theoretically because i am the only person that tests this out, and so far my experiments do seem to make perfect logical sense, and i do see more items dropping after stealing. it's simple, if an item is stolen (or, removed from the list of items that can drop), the logically the droprate of the rest of the items is slightly increased because the odds of another item dropping is removed.
Oh wow I was wondering about this! (currently lv 21 steal on my bandit)
So everytime an etc. item is stolen, that is a good thing, because it has a high chance of dropping which now disappears? Though with that logic after stealing an etc, wouldn't the droprate for say scrolls would be like 10 times as high?
Also how would a mob dropping more than one item fit in this theory? Since it's possible for mobs to drop more than 1 item, doesn't that proove that with every kill every single item in the monsters droplist drops with a certain chance? And the monster dropping a scroll after an etc. was stolen was just a coincidence and it could also just have been that the scroll was stolen instead of the etc? Or maybe steal just gets the first item on the list, so every time a monster is about to drop an etc and a scroll, the etc is always stolen and not the scroll? That would give the appearence of scrolls dropping more when etc are stolen but it aint.
Can't wait to try to farm chaos scrolls when my steal is maxed to try it out! (Like that last thing can be easily tested with doing 2x drop, which would make the etc. droprate 100% so everytime the etc. would be stolen.)
