If that's the native resolution, everything should look clear, though the icons might be a bit small. Do you think you can take a screenshot of your desktop and show us what it looks like?

even if he does a printscreen we can't see what he's seeing. The only way for us to see what he's seeing is to have him use a digital camera and take a picture of the screen.

It is pretty obvious what his problem is. I think you should make everything native resolution and increase the desktop icon sizes and such.

I used to make everything big too, but sharp/clear text made me get used to the "small" icons...they seem normal now.

But I think you are on a hi-def screen, so at native resolution the images are even smaller. lol...
