this is just too much. how do you come in years after the point and change a game so dramatically. i've never seen anything like this done before to such a degree.
they might as well just make a friggin new game, seriously... yeah % attribute items are strong, so i understand some of the nerfing... but you also have to use NX to get the pineappleing scrolls. no one is going to spend time fighting over the scrolls from boss drops. everyone is going to have to save up for nx to get good "new" items. plus, theres so many dimensions to an item that its ridiculous with the new system. grading jewels, makering, regular scrolls, potential scrolling, strengthening scrolling... its pineappleing ri-dic-u-lous.
what we dont know and if this all plays out for good or bad aside; i REALLY dont know how you change a game this much and somehow keep older players from not bailing (im already imaging NX resets for older chars. well maybe not, but you have to wonder lol). i guess though, that dosent matter. reinvent the game, pick up traffic for new players. old players maybe don't spend as much nx, and hell... the ones who stick around for this and will just spend more time (money) on the game.
when i read that interview about maplestory 2 showing up next year, i was thinking a new pineappleing game... not just a complete amnesia of what the current game was once upon a time. seriously...
.... it does seem kinda like a nexon idea though. why spend the time, imagination (lol) or money making a whole new game when you can just take the original that you've milked to death and reimagine it so you can re: milk it alllll over again. its even less riskier since, now you can potentially hold onto your older players and make them spend even more money normalizing to a new game which sits in a familiar, at least visually, setting. between this and item whoring (cash shops), what great ideas and concepts nexon has brought the gaming industry to use for their own money making possibilities.
i've never really thought of having my mmo's play experience be like a board game you could just flip over, dump all pieces out so they now mean nothing... and start over. usually consistency and value of what you spend your time building in a mmorpg, matter...
between this and seeing how completely whacked out most of nexons employees really are at e3... im just...
