You may have heard of these guys, they've been gaining popularity. It's a metal-jazz fusion like Dreamtheater, only more jazzy.

Technical extreme metal. Constant time signature changes (nearly every measure) and hella-pineapplein'-fast playing.

Technical progressive metal. The guitarist, Ron Jarzombek, is also from blotted science so expect speeds similar to that.

Technical... technicalness. This is subjective (extremely) as it requires much attention to the music to enjoy.
