I like the designs of most Pokemon in every generation. I just find a lot of people look so subjectively at the new Pokemon and point out dumb crap while saying "It'll never be like gen I" or "Everything after Gen II was crap."
If we reversed the order, people would still complain about the new Pokemon without giving them a chance at all.
That's not to say Gen I doesn't hold a special as the original, but I don't have nostalgia goggles that prevent me from acknowledging that Gen I wasn't exactly a shining example of creativity or anything like that. Every generation brings something new to the table. If the games weren't changing, and were pretty much the same thing with altered graphics and story lines, it'd get boring after a while. Every game franchise adds something new along the lines in their sequels to spice things up. Pokemon is no exception. Without the additions, it would get old fast. Whether you like change or not, it has to happen for the series to go on.
Sometimes a series does overstay its welcome, right, but I personally feel Pokemon has yet to reach this point. The new Pokemon are fine. The old Pokemon are fine. Stop letting nostalgia blind you with the illusion that one generation is better than the other simply because you're more used to it and have fond childhood memories associated with it.
