Discovered this just last week, actually. I got netplay working with my friend, but only tried it over LAN. If I can get it working, do you wanna play a round or two sometime?
I usually use the Iris, if only for the fireball spam and magic circles...
(And if you're wondering, the sequel is $20 on Direct2Drive. I can't spare the money right now, but it may be worth checking out at some point.)
