Violet or purple actually, and you're referring to the Yian Garuga. 
Yian Kut-Kus are fun to play against, because their tactics are very obvious and predictable. The Blue Yian Kut-Kus are more agile and aggressive, but to me, it's the same.. And the Yian Garuga is like the head-boss, per-se. I dont have too much trouble with it, because it fights like the Rathalos (to me), and I've slain well over 100+ Rathalos (all 3 colors: Red, Azure, and Silver combined), so it was like.. the same. The only difference here is that the Yian Garuga has VERY THICK ARMORING, so most of my attacks bounced back around Normal or Hard Ranks. When I got to the end of Hard Rank and near G-rank, I noticed I could easily penetrate it's armoring with ESP and Sharpness +1. OH MAN, DEM ESP.
Regardless, all Yians are fun to kill. :333333
