That differs. In total attack, you need 9% more than a 2-hander, assuming both bws have the same speed. Basically, if you have 118 atk morningstar, 14 atk bwg, 4 atk cape and a 12 welixir pot (148 total watk), you need 162 (rounded up) total attack with a 1-hander to beat that damage. That answers to a 14 atk shield.
(nb, this is without the speed difference. With the speed difference, you may notice an even higher damage difference)
