Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies and Pokemon [RPG]
#77
Natu: She has to be an idiot to be wading through the tall grass like this.
Murkrow: Better than getting stabbed in a forest, bitten in a cave, and who knows what through Saffron City.
Charmander: Ah... Grass is getting too tall... I think my tail might light something on fire...
Togepi: Fun!
Charmander: You think this is fun?
Natu: Togepi can talk now, but no sentences yet, it seems.

The wild plains between Pallet Town and Vermillion City probably haven't been trampled on for several years at a time. Nobody really knew what happens in this area to make this place have such restricted access. The grass at this point was waist deep, and everyone was expecting Lyssane to get bitten by something.

They were probably about halfway there when Lyssane stepped on an Ekans. Of course, nobody knew it was an Ekans until she lifted her foot, only for the Ekans to lunge and bite her leg. Chaos ensued as everyone tried to wrestle the Ekans off of her leg, until Natu finally managed to get a firm mental reading of everyone and lifted up the Ekans with her Psychic. Thankfully, the Ekans was a normal one.

Natu: For that, I'm going to strangle you good.

Natu didn't have a chance to do that though. Togepi set the Ekans - and some of the nearby grass - on fire. And now everyone had a wildfire to run away from. Sure, Lyssane was hurting from the snake bite, but it's really hard to notice the pain when you're running away from a 15-foot wall of fire.

Togepi: Yay! Run! Run!
Charmander: Oh no... I think I taught her to become a pyromaniac...

Then the ground below gives way, and everyone suddenly falls into what appears to be some sort of underground cave system. Everyone dragged the injured and exhausted Lyssane deeper into the cave, as the fire passed over the cave harmlessly. It was completely dark, save for the light generated by the flame at the tip of Charmander's tail and the light being reflected off of Togepi's Brightpowder bead necklace. Of course, the light being reflected off of the brightpowder was near blinding levels, so Charmander quickly tried to hide his flame from Togepi.

Lyssane sat against a wall, threw her backpack off to the side, and opened up her briefcase.

Lyssane: Thank god we found this place. That bite stings though... These antidote sprays are for Pokemon, but I wonder if they work for humans.

Before Lyssane had a chance to find out if antidotes worked on humans, Togepi began to chirp. The pain from the bite lessened. Togepi just tried to use Heal Bell without an actual bell. It seemed to work, at least. Togepi, pleased with finding out that she's a competent healer (when compared to that Magmortar on the boat earlier), immediately buried her face into a sandwich from the briefcase. As everyone was resting though, everyone started to hear a constant "Dig-dig-dig, dig-dig-dig, dig-dig-dig..." It was only getting louder, until it finally ceased.

And the group found themselves facing a huge army of Diglett from the west. Zombified Diglett.

There was only one thing they could do.

RUN.
