Once the balance patch comes, it will be much easier.
But until that happens, try going close to it, but not too close for you to whack it. When you see it plans to stun you, hug it to avoid the stun. Then move back and try to attack it again.
That's just my advice. Might not work well for you, but it's worth a shot.
