The DBZ manga would like to have a word with you, and Drago Ball Kai. Power up scenes in the manga are drastically shorter. Heck, the Buu saga, which spanned around 100 episodes, ot 1/3 of the whole anime series, took only 3/16 or less than 20% of the total number of volumes in the manga series. It was because Toriyama needed more time to write/draw more chapters.

Hell, Shikage can attest to this. What should have been episode 140 in the original fillerered-up DBZ series, is currently only episode 55 in the filler-less Dragon Ball Kai series. Says a lot about how much filler there was that had to be made.
