First off, Brazil, Argentina and a part of Uruguay are really dependant on soy. See, we have an exchange that favor exporting crops, mainly soy. Over these last 10~15 years, soy has been killing our soils and, as a product of the great income, made farmers switch to it instead of cows or whatever else.
In the north of Brazil, the Amazonas, is known for the capabilities of its soils. As you may guess so far, the causes are obvious.
