As with many things JMS does, Kerning Square is different then the KMS version of it.
The town map is like this:
You physically move up the escalators (unsure if it was like that in taipei 101 and the other kerning square).

Conclusion:
It is different enough that JMS might still be able to get Taipei 101. There are different versions of the same mob; kerning square uses night market mobs and night market is in JMS, too. NPCs aren't re-used. We have Taiwan. The lights are green for Taipei 101.
