So technically, Squall can be resurrected if you think of it within the game's battle system. Yes, you can revive people. Who is to say that Squall did not die, but got revived? This can make sense too. Though more unlikely.
#2: Before he died, he had dreams a couple seconds before that. The end of the game signifies that he really perhaps did die.
Either way, I think this was done intentionally to make the players think a bit more. Also, FF7 are for fanboys. Lol...
I didn't finish FF7 the plot is sub-par....

If resurrection and cure worked that way Aerith would still be alive.
I assume when they say ''revive'' its because they're incapacitated or Knocked out. They're not dead or else most of the character deaths would be minor since they could just use heal or Arise and act like nothing happened.
