Just in terms of 1st job pot burns, Thief/Bowman seem to have it worst. Magicians have MP regen to take care of their MP and 1st job warrior stuff doesn't cost as much (plus, mobbing skills save on mp) - but L7 and DS are kinda expensive when the monsters only drop 30-40 mesos. Especially for bowmen who can't guarantee 1hkos due to lack of mastery.
The gear thing is really not as big a problem as some people make it out to be, yes claws and thief gear in general costs more - but thieves are also full of profitable skills. With Drain, Meso Up and Alchemist, it's very easy for a Hermit to make money.
I'd say Evan have definitely taken this over though, no MP regen + expensive books = huge cost to new players.
