Has nothing to do with withstanding an attack. It has to do with 'luck'. Here's two situations, you compare and tell me the differences:

Trainer A sends out Ninjask
Trainer B sends out Scizor
Ninjask uses Substitute
Speed Boost has raised Ninjask's speed
Scizor uses Bullet Punch
The Substitute broke.

Turn 2:
Ninjask uses Substitute
Speed Boost has raised Ninjask's speed
Scizor uses Bullet Punch
The Substitute broke.

Turn 3:
Ninjask uses Substitute
Speed Boost has raised Ninjask's speed
Scizor uses Bullet Punch
The Substitute broke.

Turn 4:
Ninjask uses Substitute
Speed Boost has raised Ninjask's speed
Scizor uses Bullet Punch
The Substitute broke.

<Ninjask has 1% HP left>

Turn 5:
Ninjask Baton Passes to Salamence
Scizor uses Swords Dance

This shows that they're using strategy and not relying on luck-factor. The only luck that plays in this is whether Scizor uses SD, Bullet Punch, Bug Bite/U-turn, or perhaps Brick Break.

Dugtrio's Arena Trap has trapped Gengar!

Dugtrio uses Sucker Punch

Turn 2:
Dugtrio uses Sucker Punch
Gengar's Focus Band activated
Gengar has 1% HP left
Gengar uses Ice Punch
Dugtrio has fainted

Both are hypothetical 'what-ifs', the attacks and stats here are completely made-up, but you'll understand. I see as two entirely different things.

Also, yes, Sash is back in. Band is banned.

I never questioned the pineappleing band, god damn. I questioned SASH. FFS, nobody here asked for Focus Band to be allowed, we asked for SASH. I couldn't remember the names, so I even specifically said to ban the 10% chance one and allow the 1 use one.
