Well, the shoulder pads were just something that happened to be added around the same time. The time-limited shoulder pads were from the quest to take a picture of a tiger, and the perma ones were from Pigmy. They don't really have a special accessory like Aran and Evan, which I assume is because of their Adventurer status.

Here's the event notice for the Year of the Tiger stuff.

#4 is the picture event, #6 details the additions to Pigmy.
