ITT: The Smartest Dog in the World.

My dad's best friend's dog was 17 years old. Her only health problem was that she went deaf at around 15. She was SOO smart. My dad's friend lives out in New York, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Out there, dogs aren't really kept in and what not, and so Midnight (the dog) was free to roam around. She was so smart that she even looked both ways before crossing the street. She was so friendly, too. She understood signs to do things because she obviously couldn't hear what we were saying. Sadly, she was hit by a car. She was crossing the street to explore the forest, but even though she looked, a car came barreling around the corner and hit her because she couldn't hear it and since she didn't see it she thought it was safe. That was the best dog ever.

Now, my current dog, only about 2.5 years old, is pretty well trained. I won't go far as to say she is a super intelligent dog, though. She's about average, or a little above average for a dog.
