It doesn't really matter to me. I don't tend to think "Wow, I want this Pokemon, but it's female so I'll just wait for a male to turn up."
Even if they're Pokemon that have a significant difference between genders, such was Wobbuffet with lipstick, I don't mind having one or the other. Maybe if they make the gender differences more noticeable in Gen V.
At the moment, my main team is all male though, It's completely by chance, but I don't mind.
Yeah, most Pokemon can go either way. If it's a very feminine Pokemon, or masculine Pokemon, I'd prefer to get their respective gender. I wouldn't mind too much if I didn't though.
