Competing amongst a group of friends does not constitute you to being "competitive".
What's the difference between a two groups competing against each other in soccer during lunch time and two national teams going at each other during the world cup? One is obviously "competitive" while the other is still recreational.
So what then? Will you consider the techniques of that from the national team "unfair", "ruins the game"? If you were pitted against a player of such higher caliber, would you start whining? Talk about poor sportsmanship.
There's no specific "that it is meant to be played" in any game. The only restrictions would that be of RULES.
But hey, it's YOUR way to play. Just because a game is played differently doesn't mean it's wrong. But there is always a line between competitive and casual. If you've been in a competitive sport I'm sure you'd understand.
