The competitive SSBM discussion thread

Because you shun strategies and techniques just because they're nerdy, and because you purposely introduce large elements of luck into your game.

I shun wavedashing and L-sticking (Hardly strategic since it's basically become a standard in competitive battling today) because I do not feel that is how the game is meant to be played. This feeling is mutual among those that I play Melee with, so everything works out quite well. Typically, when two of us reach at-each-others'-throats tier, we remove items and go about our competitive Melee business. Items are a part of the game and while they do introduce unfair advantages, they also provide hilarious comic relief and other forms of entertainment that just make the overall experience more enjoyable. It's fun. :3

Why are you and Mark always trying to get your butt in threads where you clearly know you're going to fuel some sort of argument? Especially if not in Funhouse. If this was Funhouse, I would LOL and play back. This isn't a joke. If you want to start a thread about casual gaming, whether it be Smash or whatever else, go ahead and do so. Stop derailing the thread. You're not helping anything. Nor are you contributing.

This post alone derails and fuels more than any of the posts made beforehand. Dusk and I are discussing what defines competitive Melee, and I see no problem with that in a thread that is basically made out to be "Competitive Melee General". I don't see what I'm supposed to be "helping", and I'm hardly derailing. I also do not appreciate my posts being labeled as noncontributive if only because they do not contain a video of a competitive battler that I aspire to one day become. Please respect my opinion and I will consider respecting yours.
