Ive only ever done level and species, because i never bothered to deal with that shit since i had two very useful codes that enabled me to bypass the 252 limit, and add 999 of the stat items to my bag.
i will never understand EV/IV trainers. perfection is a lie, and no matter what, no matter how good you think you are, theres always someone better. the whole "must have the perfect pokemon" will never work out since theres even a way to get around a wondertomb/wondereye. >_>
It's not about perfection. I treat Pokemon like any other RPG. I want my Pokemon to have good stats, so I'm willing to waste some time fulfilling that goal. It's the same reason people try to collect 100% of the treasures in [insert generic RPG here]. Sure it's nearly pointless, and you can beat the game without collecting more than 10% of the treasures, but it's fun because it lets you satisfy your basic human instinct of collecting and hoarding things. Only in Pokemon, your efforts do pay off a little because you can use your "better" Pokemon to battle other people.
When I use this analogy to collecting items in other RPGs, I find it pretty hard to understand why you'd hack 999 stats and items, and all the event Pokemon. Getting there is the fun part for me. Wailing on Youngster Joey with a Wondertomb, not so much.
