The way I see it, there's more to it than just "learning the material." Sometimes, doing your homework can help you establish patience (learning to cope with hours of homework that you may or may not understand), as well as discipline (learning to actually go home and do homework when it is given). Believe it or not, but you can actually learn a thing or two that can help you in the future by having the ethics to simply do your homework.
