I think my current playthrough is up to the room right before the error message room. I got Touhou after that and decided that it's just as challenging but much more visually (and audibly) pleasing.
On an unrelated note, I think I have like 3000 death on that playthrough, though only about 1000 are recorded due to game frequently crashing.
Tyson, Dracula and the Dragon were all pretty easy (although for the dragon I mostly memorized the path by watching youtube videos, so I guess I can't say anything here). Kraid and the Klown Kars were OK - most of my resets were trying to figure out how those attack patterns worked. Birdo and Mother Brain are HARD.
