NoScript

Never understood what NoScript is good for anyway.

Blocking malicious scrips. Of course, if you take precautions and don't click every single link online, you most likely won't be needing it anyway. It seemed like more of a hiderance to me than help, probably because of the fact that you have to set the rules for every new site you visit.

The only time No-script was actually useful was from one rickroll link. The page had a script where it would minimize your web browser into a small window, and then the window will "dance" around your screen as the song and video plays. It would be quite annoying. That's the only time that I ever used it. Didn't have to deal with that annoying page.

But all in all, I don't find much use for it, because I usually play close attention to where exactly I'm visiting.

If you also read Wladimir Palant's blog (Ad-block), internet security providers (especially free internet security providers) are being offered bribes to compromise the security of their programs for one or two websites to be white-listed. Not a big deal that will be noticed immediately by the user base, but could prove detrimental to users who rely on such tools for safer browsing. Again I'm not advocating for people to go out a buy corporate programs like Norton or Kaspersky. I'm just trying to raise awareness. That's all.

Meh. When it all comes down to it, you can't have your computer ultra lockdown protection anyway. If you're online, you shouldn't really rely 100% on such tools for protection. You have to use your own judgment as well. I thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention though.

Wouldn't this be more suited for the Speakeasy?
