This puzzled me too. They're probably bitching that there's only one way to go to the next event. The maps themselves have enough branches.
The town's thing? lies. There ARE towns, 3 of them. They're just not your traditional towns where you repot etc, you do that at a save point. Instead, these towns are more like dungeons. But still, they're towns.
But yeah, I'm 20 hours in now, Chapter 10.

Chapter 9's boss was hard as balls. I was stuck there for like 1 and a half hours.
