Yes, yes you can. You just need to merchant. If you want a free to log on, pay to play game go look at something like trixter where all the CS items are untradeable. You could be the richest person in the entire game in trixter and you still wouldn't have access to the CS items and the power that comes with them.
Not so in maple, merchanting has always been a part of maple. If you want to merchant you can merchant in mesos or NX and buy everything a CS player has, it will just take more work. If you can't merch up to the level you'd like to be at and instead choose to pour money into the game that's your choice but it's in no way necessary.

Nothing any of you say here about maple dying means a god damn thing. The only thing that will cause maple to die is a decrease in the active playerbase and a drop in profits. Your friends/guild/ family quitting/ being hacked/ nexon screwing up skills doesn't mean a damn thing if other people keep playing and paying. And since, as far as I know, we don't have access to those figures nothing you say has any basis whatsoever.
