The argument at hand was whether it was possible to play MS without NX. I'm sure we all agree it would be EASIER. What many people overlook is the fact that boss runs get BORING. Everyone seems to think that the goal of this game is to fight HT or PB or Zak. Honestly they are boring. You think all those high leveled people are having fun bossing? Whether you have a 15atk WG or a 30atk WG, the time it takes to HT won't improve by INSANELY LARGE durations.
Gear is only noticeable for grinding, the difference between 1hko-ing and 2hko-ing mobs. Unless the whole group (using your logic Kevo/Khoi) has access to the MOST godly equips which again, I am pretty sure they aren't, wouldn't give two sh'ts whether you have a 10atk wg or a 20atk wg. And even then, it seems more like a chore than something fun to do. It reminds me of Felix doing Pap everyday. Somewhere along the line he got bored because it's a chore. Did his equips REALLY help? Even a 20atk bonus isn't much.
