God i love the squiggles.

Tobias fell from his seat as he heard the blast go off directly behind him. As he fell to the floor he looked behind him and saw the tip of a rifle poking out from the front of the girl's desk. She had a cold, expressionless face. Others around started to scream loudly, and he looked to the front of the class. The student she had just shot was starting to ooze black formless demons from the wound in his neck. His skin turned pale and eventually faded away into nothingness, and in his place a small group of demons stood. The teacher at the front of the room, in shock, ran to the side of the room by the chalkboard and grabbed the erasers on the ledge. He threw them at the demons, but they simply phased right through them.
Most of the students ran out of the class ran out into the halls, screaming as loudly as possible. Only a few students remained in the room: Tobias, laying on the floor, baffled that a student could have been possessed by that many demons at once; the cold girl with the stoic eyes, now standing directly behind the demons, aiming her rifle at the small group; a tall, slender boy wearing tiny black framed glasses, holding out a revolver in his hands, aiming at the group as well; and several boys huddled by the door wielding small daggers and short swords. Tobias slowly rose to his feet, and one of the male students by the doors shouted over to him.
"Get down, kid!" The group all rushed forward, swords and daggers tightly held in their hands. The girl and guy standing in the back of the room did not move, standing firm and waiting for the other students to get out of their lines of sight. The demons slowly started to split up, and one materialized a massive black axe attached to his arm and swatted the group of students away, sending them flying into the wall behind them. One of the demons formed a massive spear and started to lunge for the teacher.
"Katsu!" The tall boy fired a round at the demon with the spear with a shout. The muzzle of his gun glew a bright yellow as the bullet from his eight shot revolver flew from the barrel. The bullet pierced the back of the demon, and upon impact the demon's body turned a pale shade of lemon-yellow and exploded. The other demons, seeing one of their brothers destroyed, rushed towards him. He and the girl fired round after round, the demon's bodies being torn to shreds and exploding as they were being shot. Tobias was amazed. These people were firing at the demons, fighting them. They weren't afraid, they stood resolute. Those boys also, with the swords and daggers, they too weren't afraid and ran headlong into danger. He was amazed.
"New kid, get out of the way if you can't fight back!" The guy wielding the revolver, having ran out of bullets, ejected the center roulette and put a new one in its place. Tobias was amazed at the level of speed he had. "I SAID MOVE!!" It was too late.
A demon had managed to evade their barrage of bullets and was heading for Tobias. He looked over to his left and saw the demon start to lower his head and cock back its arm, molding it into a deadly sharp cone. It lunged the arm forward at Tobias. He froze, not sure of what he should do next.
Suddenly, the demon faded out of sight as the blade of a long katana ran through it. He looked up and saw a girl holding the sword in her hands. She had hazel eyes, hidden behind small silver framed glasses. She wiped a bead of sweat off of her forehead and let out a sigh. "Well," she started, "looks like that was the last of 'em. Thanks for the help you two." She glanced over at the group of boys leaning against the wall, lying on the ground. "And you guys, maybe you should train some more before you try going after these C-ranks."
"We were handling everything just fine without you, Mimoto," said the boy with the pistol. He opened up the roulette and checked the bullets left, then put the gun back into his leg holster. "And I don't recall asking for your help." He looked over at Tobias, and gave him a stern look. "And you, new kid. If you're not capable of fighting the demons, then you should've ran out of the class like the rest of them."
Tobias looked up at him, then went over to the emotionless girl. She had rested the rifle against the wall and was putting her desk back to its standing position. She didn't say a word at all, not even showing even a hint of emotion. He then looked back at the girl with the sword, and was able to catch a quick glimpse up her skirt when she walked towards him. He blushed.
"Hey, it's okay if you can't fight them. I can handle just about anything that comes my way, so you don't even worry, okay new kid?" She reached out her hand, her wristband hanging at the base of her wrist. Tobias looked at her outstretched arm for a few seconds, then reached out and took her arm. She helped him up to his feet. "Hey, white nails, you don't see many boys that paint their nails around here. Speaking of, you don't look familiar, who are you?"
The boy with the gun walked over and put his hand on the girls shoulder. "Mimoto, this is a transfer student. He just started today. Came in late though... like you." He gave her a slight smirk.
"Hey! I was being held in a dumpster by this strange man wearing--" She stopped mid-sentence. The teacher, the boy, Tobias, and the silent girl all stared at her. She blushed. "I mean... Daisuke, I had some matters that needed to be dealt with, ok?"
"Well, fine. Just sayin', you kinda showed up late to the party." He walked over to his desk, picked it up and stood it up again. "I mean, that was really cool looking of you, come dashing in at the last minute to save the poor helpless new kid, but--"
"I'm not helpless," interrupted Tobias. He clenched his hands in a somewhat tight fist. He looked over at Daisuke and gave him a cold stare. "I just wasn't aware that..."
"That what, demons were real? Welcome to the real world kid. Sure it sounds like its a load of bull, but here in Shinto, a lot of that stuff you see in the movies, on TV's, especially those crappy animes, and in comics; all that stuff is real here." Daisuke walked over and put his arm around Tobias' shoulder. "Ya know, I don't think we've been properly introduced. My name's Daisuke kid." He reached out with his other arm and held out his hand. Tobias looked at it for a moment, then reached out and shook it. "I can already tell you and I are going to get along just fine."
"Hey, newbie," the girl started, "whats your name?" She walked over to where the teacher was and helped him to his feet. "My name's Mimoto by the way. What's your power, hmm kid?"
"My power?" asked Tobias. He looked at her, puzzled. "And my name's Tobias."
"Tobias, eh? That's a funny name. You must not be from here, though that should be obvious, just by the way you look, your accent, and that you're a transfer student." Tobias was impressed. She was observant, something he liked. "And your power, what is it?"
"I don't understand what you mean..." Tobias looked baffled. He looked down at the floor, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Daisuke, noticing that, tapped him on the side of his shoulder. "Eh, cheer up bud. Maybe your powers just haven't awakened yet." It was at this point that a group of teachers and other students started to pour by the door to the classroom. They were all in shock seeing the walls and floors covered in a dark goo. Tobias looked over, and the silent girl was busy wiping the scope of her rifle off with the end of her skirt. She was focused, not even paying attention to the world around her. Tobias was intrigued by her. "Listen," Daisuke started, interrputing his train of thought, "that girl you're eyeing, Aurora? She's... well, just try to avoid her, okay?"
"Yeah, she's got... issues," added Mimoto. "No one really knows too much about her, other than her name, and that she's one of the top snipers in Japan, arguably in the world, even." Daisuke, Mimoto, and Tobias stood around their desks, and looked over at Aurora. She didn't notice, nor pay them any mind, and just kept polishing her rifle.
