Some guys on the official forum claims that one needs a super special wesome GM client to actually do most of the GM stuff like ban people or create items. So there shouldn't be any lasting damage.
Of course, it's the official forums so I don't know how much I can trust that piece of info. Then again I can't really disprove it since I haven't been on an GM char without a special client.
