I mean there's more to the essay than how much money went into the films, there's also formal techniques, thematics, distribution and marketing.
I mean, regardless of how much Die Hard was made for it was still a studio film made after Star Wars and Jaws had come out, so it's a bit profit centric.
There's also a postmodernist bent in the essay as it's a postmodernist class.
