I think, both genders putting the lid down altogether is the better choice in terms of compromise and fairness. As to what Heidi says.. I agree - our anatomy isn't built for that -.- If we pee standing up, it doesn't just not aim properly, it does NOT aim at all. We even wind up peeing on ourselves on the unfortunate occasion - and thats with sitting down. lol I cant imagine how it works if we stood up.
Here's something else: we can't help not being built to aim properly, so we sit down so that pee will land where it should. Since you men are born with the ability and perfected since you were able to potty by yourselves, why cant you go through the trouble of peeing by aiming properly in the first place so that it doesnt splatter all over? lol It's not like you can't clean up your own mess if you mess the toilet seat. - For that, a theres a toilet paper roll to help u deal with that.
On the other hand, if you live in a lady-dominated house - as in, where majority rules, I'd imagine its more respectful to put it down for the ladies.
Oh - and to whoever mentioned it above with the mythbusters - I totally agree with that: it may seem to be the grossest unsanitary thing ever, but it's not. Back when I was in highschool, all four of us as a team were swabbing the same three different areas, collecting our own samples and making our own observations based on that. It was a door handle, the floor, desk and toilet seats. Different door, desk, floor and seat but the results came in the same/similar. The desk swabs came back with the most bacteria growth, the floor had the least, and the toilet seat came in a tie with the handle.
Edit: If you men couldn't aim, what does that tell us about your ability to aim in bed? I'm joking of course. lol
