I don't want to get into an essay like some of the previous responses are, but suffice it to say that as cliche as it might be, it's important to find balance. I'm sure we all lose sight of that once in a while, and that's normal. This video could just as easily have been made 30 years ago about Television, or 60 years ago about Radio. It's the same thing.
"Well, I missed my wedding, but hey, at least I enjoyed myself while I was missing it!"
You might say that these are just forms of entertainment, but I would argue that beyond the entertainment value, there's another deeper layer to it. Any one of these media serves the additional purpose of allowing someone to live vicariously through the characters, and experience things that ordinarily would not be possible. It allows for the exploration of how situations can affect people, of relationships and the intricacies there in, and what it takes to face what can be an insurmountable challenge. There's a reason people have been telling stories for all of human history - they're useful. It's not wasted time at all.
Do some people ignore these possible benefits? Probably. If you really enjoyed the experience though, odds are it will stick in your mind and provoke your thoughts, maybe on something you never considered before. And that's important.
