For me it's always about controlling my character. In Maple, I expect to hit the jump-BS every time, so when I screw it up, I get annoyed. Of course, when I'm annoyed, it's harder to do, so I get more annoyed
. Same kind of thing in Smash - if I get mad/excited, say goodbye to short-hopping and hello to button mashing.
But getting screwed over by a boss or trap in single-player games doesn't really bother me much, luckily.
