I hope the GAME is more challenging. They've been getting easier every generation to cater to the 8 year old population. Teenagers play the games too.

Making a game easy with post-game difficulty or chosen difficulty (in pokemon's case, rechallenging old trainers) is more convenient for EVERYONE than making a game that's hard all around. While it may be what you want, it's not what will sell games.
