Even Ubuntu can get viruses. Long story short if it has a cache then it can be infected. LiveCDs do not permit anything to be installed to the system and therefore cannot be compromised.
Regarding the security of the addons in Firefox... I suppose thats true, however if you're really worried about a keylogger or other potential security threat residing in the actual site(and only site you would be loading the LiveCD for) then nobody is safe.
