I'd have to rewatch that thing from the History Channel, but iirc, weed is only illegal now because it was popular amongst black people a hundred years ago, and some racist people pushed to ban it.
It's called weed for a reason: It's a weed. Trying to stop it's growth is damn near impossible.
Alcohol and Cigarettes are far more dangerous than weed: No one has ever died from ODing on Marijuana. Ever. Doing stupid pomegranate under the influence? yea. ODing on crap added to the weed because it's in a black market? Yea. But weed itself has never, ever, killed someone from an over dose. It just can't do it.
If people are going to come in here with addiction arguments: Caffeine is more addicting than weed, and there are no restrictions on caffeine consumption, so what makes a weed 'addiction' so bad?
Whether you care to admit it or not, people will use weed. They have for millennium, and they will continue. A flat out ban on it only creates dangerous black markets.
People like to agrue "well, what if they smoke and drive?!?!?". No one wants a flat out "no law can affect what you do with you weed" law. There'd obviously be restrictions similar to that of alcohol. I'd argue for an age of 15 or so, if any, because every highschool in America has Weed users, so an 18 limit makes no sense, and the BS limit of 21 shouldn't be that high on Alcohol as it is.
