Actually, recent anime? Er.... you might not like the stuff I like, same for your friend. Not like recent-recent, but it's anime I have enjoyed:

Heh. I watched dubbed Yu Yu Hakusho when I was younger, and as far as I remember he was really into dubbed Kenshin. I think he's seen AIR, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't seen any of FMA:B yet, and he liked the original FMA, so... I might just show him episode 2 of that.
And we both used to watch dubbed Naruto, so no. Nice try though.
