Eh, up at the colleges over where I live (state is PA), you'll actually find DECENT pros every once in a while. Before I played competitively, I got raped.. completely. I was playing with a couple friends at my local community college in the cafeteria, this one guy saw us playing, and wanted a solo against me. Reason he wanted a solo was because he saw that I was raping everyone else using my Fox (when I played Fox at the time.. lol..), and anyways.. he used Peach. Let's just say.. I didn't even kill him, not once. He 4-stocked me completely.
From that point on, I started asking for advice from my bestfriend, and played other people, eventually, that's how I got better. I don't tech as much as ANY of my friends, christ. They constantly shffl, I can't do that during 99.99% of the battles I'm playing in, since I space so much anyways.. My friend says even without Wave Dashing or doing anything overly advanced, I've managed to beat him just by short-hopping, timing my bairs and using decently timed Rests. So I'll be practicing those a bit more, and hopefully I'll W-dash a lot more in the future with my Jigs. Other than that, I've been playing Falco and Fox for friendlies.
I've seen non-competitives over here too, but if I'm playing against multiple people, I end up playing Fox or Falco. Meh. I play against some people here during the weekends when I go to parties and get pretty hammered.. It's more fun when I'm intoxicated.
