Level up, that was one of the first things mentioned. Fighting higher level monsters will result in items of better value to drop no? For example, Mano is a low level Boss. Its drops can't possibly compete with Zakum's which drops Helmets of a very high value. The only way you could even hope of fighting Zakum is to level up.
As for the cost of the store... I agree with Dyxanije in that these stores are an investment. It's a pretty safe investment once you start selling higher level items.

A) Look around fm, and learn prices. I'd say equips (clean of course) below level 70 are generally not very valuable.
B) Pen and paper.
