Snipe in Other Versions of MS
#6
Technically snipe is already 5 seconds ish in gMS right now, you just need to know how to time it correctly. Here's a copypaste of a post a made:

Quote:With the new "4-second" snipe, you can essentially force snipe down to a ~5/6 second cooldown and minimize the randomness element with precise timing. The bad part is that it kind of spams your chat because it requires tapping/holding snipe.

To start up, snipe, strafe 5 times, then hold down snipe until you can use it (can take up to 5 seconds), strafe 6 times, then snipe. This is where you need to start timing. Even with this technique, there is still a tiny variance to snipe's cooldown, which you need to pay attention to. Once you're in the pattern, snipe's cooldown will essentially be low enough that it will always cool down within the time it takes to fire 5 or 6 strafes.

If you use snipe after your strafes when snipe has cooled down completely while you are firing your last strafe, fire 5 strafes, then snipe, then fire 6 strafes, then snipe, then repeat. If you use snipe immediately after it cools down after your last strafe, fire 6 strafes, then snipe, then repeat. It's usually snipe, 5 strafes, snipe, 6 strafes, snipe, 6 strafes, snipe, 5 strafes, snipe, 6 strafes, snipe, 6 strafes, snipe, etc., but as I said earlier, you have to pay close attention to the cooldown because there is still a small variance. If you snipe too late at any time (the window for sniping in the pattern is less than 1 second), the cooldown will increase to up to 8/9 seconds.

In realistic situations, knockback, status effects, recasting buffs, etc. will obviously interrupt your sniping and strafing, so just imagine yourself strafing to keep the pattern up. You may only be able to fire 4 strafes in a realistic bossing situation when you would be able to fire 5 or 6 within interruption. Having sound effects on is good for this because strafe is pretty loud and you can imagine its sound 5/6 times in a row. Also, if you ever break from the pattern, firing two snipes with the second fired immediately as it cools down will set you back on track again.

This is all without SI by the way.

If it's too confusing, or you can't get it to work, I can make a quick video of it later if you want.
