since khoi mentioned high school, it reminded me of some things that happened to me when i went to high school. but before that, in 8th grade, on the last day of school, which was also my birthday, this really muscular and buff kid decided that he would give me my birthday punches during gym. now not to give too much credit to the guy, being that we were in 8th grade and im still weak as pineapple, but after about 6 i was at my limit with the guy, so i started to block his punches. that worked well enough... until a then friend of mine decided to come up to my other side while we were sitting on the bleachers and punch me in my left side. so here i am, blocking two people feebly while the two gym teachers, one of which is a brother to an ex WWF professional wrestler, just sat across the gym not even getting up to see what was going on. cue the big kids rage at my stopping his fun; he stands up and straight hooks me in the face, at the corner of my head. now, since i wear glasses, this posed an interesting predicament, as the corner of the frames cut into my eye, literally at the corner of my eye. had it have been even a centimeter closer id be half blind right now. the first thing i do is pull my sleeve up, thank you long sleeve shirt in the middle of june, and covered my face thinking my eye was in my hands, and scream bloody murder. it was then that the two teachers got up and ran over to see what was going on. i start cursing more than ive ever done in my life, as the female gym teacher starts leading me to the nurses office.
in there, ill just note this now that this is where i developed my coping mechanism, i had to pull my hand off of my face, which took a good 15 minutes of coaxing by both the principal, my mother whom had arrived by this point, both gym teachers, and the nurse. the first thing i hear is a collective "OMG, WHAT HAPPENED?!" i go to the bathroom and look into the mirror, and i see half of my face is swollen and my eye was sore, but still intact. i laughed at that i couldve been blinded by this idiot, and because i thought the swelling and bruising, especially that massive gouge next to my eye, was just plain funny. cue my mothers rage at the school for letting this happen, and later on i get 21k from the school. wish i had been blinded though. guarantee id have gotten much much more, and i can go on disability from the state/government. theres still a tiny hook shaped scar at the corner of my eye, and some nights when i lay on it too long or it gets too cold, it gets red and stands out prominently.
but back to high school. i wasnt exactly mister social popular, hey look at me im the cool new kid. (moved to a new school, guess why? >_>) i was that awkward, lets avoid that wierdo kid. though i got along fine with most everyone, there was still those few that i just never clicked with. it wasnt until 11th grade that i made any actual friends, though they were more school pals than friends, but i digress. during that debate on whether flag burning was constitutional, one of my friends, which all of them were massive stoners, said that if it was allowed as a legal form of protest he'd run down the halls and burn a flag. yeah, just because he wanted to be cool or some pomegranate. iuno, but he went on like that for a week. then when it was announced that it was, the first thing he did was storm out of our classroom, and the teacher alerted the principal. dude didnt even have a flag, just ran around the halls with a lit lighter. then another of those friends, he and i got along pretty well. he drew and wrote a little, as well as played the bass, so i kinda was jealous and fond of him. one day i went over to his place and saw some things he had written down on his walls, and they were, well, not all that good. that kinda proved a catalyst for me to do better as a writer, which looking back is kinda funny.
12th grade, only two things i really feel worth noting. i had homeroom, then physics. there was this one girl who was so conceeded, so uptight and full of herself, miss im so popular and im the most beautiful thing under the earth, and she went out with utter scum. like, the one guy she was out with when we were in 12th grade together, a massive waste of space, but she still stayed with him because i guess he was a good pineapple. anyways, she enjoyed making fun of me, calling me a loser and that id die a virgin, which i tell myself still anyways, so i would laugh at her and call her a slut. this went on almost every single day. the best line i can remember between us went like this:
Her: Steve, youre such a pathetic loser. No girl will ever have sex with you.
Me: Sam, go pineapple yourself, you've got no room to talk. You've been around so much that i could fit a train between your legs. i mean, jesus christ your platypus's been so stretched loose that i bet you could take 5 men in there at a time, which im sure you already have.
Her: Shut up steve, you ugly balding idiot.
Me: Pssh, peach, at least i can control my ass, it hasnt been so loosened that all i need to is bend over and the pomegranate just slides out like your ass was sprayed down with Pam.
the teacher and everyone in that class would laugh themselves to tears when her and i would really get into it.
then came senior trip... i have mixed feelings about it.. and on second thought, ill just say this about i; only two things came of it. i saw my crush in her underwear unintendedly, and on the trip to universal studios i forgot my food money so i spent the entire day and afternoon walking around the park, reading, and sleeping, having no real fun and spending all day alone. i got through The List of Seven thanks to that day. then later at that knight diner place, there was a dance and due to my etreme fatigue and hunger, since i dont eat/hate really greasy foods, and all that they served was an incredibly greasy chicken drumstick, i didnt really eat anything that day, and during the dance i went outside and fell to an emotional breakdown. oh yeah, best day there. >_>
