How do i disable this volume thing

There might be a program running in the taskbar that can let you disable the on-screen prompts (or whatever they are called) or if it's something the PC brand installed there might be a Programs folder where you can do the same. Or, seeing as it's Vista it might even be a feature, but I'm not a Vista user so.... yeah.
