I remember facing my friend who built a deck around the Chaos Emperor Dragon. I took the thing down five times. I lost the match but I didn't care. It was a challenge. My point is that the ban on "powerful" cards is dumb. There shouldn't be a reason for it.
If you were able to constantly take out your friends chaos emperor dragon, the only reason is your friend sucked. Chaos emperor dragon made huge changes to the tournament scene, which is the reason ban lists exist. Change of heart, monster reborn, yata garasu and the like all provide insane advantages with no cost to the person using them changing the game from needing a strategy in your to OMGIHOPEIDRAWTHISOVERPOWEREDCARD to win. THAT is why the game has a ban list
