I usually use it as a late game sweeper, once I've already gotten a feel for most of their team. That way I know what they have that can and can't take out Chari, as well as what pokemon Chari would be able to come in with a substitute without wasting it.
Usually when I play against others, I don't get a look at their team and they don't get a look at mine. I feel its better that way, so you're not analyzing how to counter their team before hand. You work on your feet and come up with a strategy on the fly. I feel its more exciting that way. So, because of that, I can catch people off guard with my Charizard.
By the way, I have a BP Smeargle and do pass to my Aerodactly.
If you put it that way, makes sense. When I played NB, I went for the "Instant annihilation" sorta strategy, I crush their team immediately. Of course, my strategy is pineappleing unbelievably predictable, if you can't counter Umbreon -> Aero, it's like "Why do you play NB in the first place", ya know?
Let me see if I can remember the stats:
Umbreon @ Lefties
252 HP/ 126 def/132 spe def EVs
Bold nature (+def, -att) <- I think...
-Rest
-Baton Pass
-Curse
-Mean Look
BP onto:
Aerodactyl @ White Herb (nulls negative side-effects of stats only once, with this, I don't get speed subtracted because of Curse)
252 speed, 252 att, 6 HP
Jolly nature (+ speed, -spe att)
Ability: Rock Head (in conjunction with Double-Edge for no recoil)
-Double Edge (120 base att)
-Aerial Ace (won't miss even if opponent EVADE-WHORES, and FCKYEAH STAB)
-EQ
-Rock Slide (FCKYEAH STAB)
Only way I get gg'ed is as if they send out Skarm, Cune, or MAYBE Snorlax. Sometimes, some amazing fcktard sends out a high HP and high DEF Steelix that can survive EQ, just to make me rage. Almost everything else in 3rd gen got raped by this. But the Umbreon-game is really counterable.
