Oh no no, my parents loved trying to get me to drink before even 18. It was just 21 that they really really bothered me for days on end to do so, since I had always refused before. My parents aren't very strict people, they usually let me do whatever the hell I want unless it's really really stupid. But I usually don't do really really stupid things like going out and whoring it up, or getting into some dangerous drugs. Not that they'd mind the drugs as much though, so long as I don't go overboard with it and end up one of those crackies on the street who talk to themselves really loud about random crap.
All in all though, my parents would rather I do immoral/illegal stuff with them rather than with people they don't know on the streets. Which, I think is actually pretty nice. I didn't really go through the "break a rules ya!!" rebellious stage, probably because I didn't feel the need to. I had enough freedom from my parents, so it's not as if I was "being held down by the man" or anything.
